Overview of Responsibilities
This position is embedded within the Assessment and Accreditation Unit of the Regulatory Framework Implementation subdivision (RFI) within the Mitigation Division. The incumbent will play a pivotal role in reviewing, analyzing, and administering submissions related to projects and programs of activity (PoA) in the domain of climate change mitigation. This includes processing requests for registration and issuance of greenhouse gas (GHG) mitigation activities, evaluating entity accreditation applications, and contributing to the development of methodologies.

Primary Duties
- Technical and Procedural Support: Offer comprehensive support to the 6.4 mechanism activity cycle and other relevant mechanisms. This involves processing registration and issuance requests, preparing policy recommendations, delivering technical presentations, and providing feedback on regulatory document improvements.
- Accreditation and Assessment: Assess the performance of entities against established standards, prepare reports and recommendations for the Accreditation Panel, respond to inquiries from applicants and operational entities, and collaborate with stakeholders to enhance understanding of mitigation activities assessment and entity accreditation.
- Liaison and Collaboration: Act as a representative of the secretariat at conferences and workshops, collaborate with UN entities, Parties, NGOs, and stakeholders to advance mitigation activities assessment and methodology development, and contribute to capacity building initiatives.
- Additional Responsibilities: Undertake any other job-related activities necessary to achieve divisional and secretariat objectives.

Qualifications
- Educational Background: Possess an advanced university degree in engineering, economics, environmental science, development, or policy studies, or a related field. Alternatively, hold a first-level university degree with additional qualifying experience.
- Experience: Demonstrate a minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in climate change mitigation issues or related fields, including stakeholder engagement, assessment, and analysis.
- Language Skills: Exhibit fluency in written and spoken English, with proficiency in another UN language preferred.
- Specific Professional Knowledge: Show familiarity with multilateral climate negotiations and relevant theories and approaches. Additionally, possess knowledge of the UNFCCC intergovernmental process.
