The Director of Philanthropy, Principal Giving is responsible for securing large-scale funding by cultivating relationships with donors who contribute over $100,000 annually. Reporting to the Executive Director of Philanthropy, this individual will manage a targeted portfolio of major donors, ensuring sustainable financial growth for CARE’s global initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
Fundraising
- Maintain a portfolio of 30-50 high-net-worth donors and prospects.
- Develop tailored engagement and solicitation strategies.
- Secure gifts of $100,000 and above, surpassing annual fundraising goals.
- Educate donors on CARE’s impact and create personalized giving opportunities.
- Foster meaningful donor connections by organizing exclusive engagement events.
Prospect & Pipeline Development
- Identify and cultivate new donors through CARE-hosted events, gatherings, and Impact Awards.
- Utilize board member networks, donor-advised funds (DAFs), and emergency response initiatives to expand the donor base.
- Work closely with the Prospect Research team to identify next-generation philanthropists.
- Maintain donor data and relationships using CARE’s CRM system (Salesforce).
Internal Collaboration
- Collaborate across CARE’s departments to enhance donor and prospect relationships.
- Serve as a representative of Principal Gifts, embodying CARE’s values of inclusion, integrity, and partnership.
- Work with CARE’s leadership to craft and present compelling funding opportunities aligned with strategic goals.

Qualifications
Education & Certification
- Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of fundraising experience, particularly in major and principal gifts.
- Strong track record engaging ultra-high-net-worth donors.
- Proven ability to secure six-figure donations and build long-term donor relationships.
- Experience leveraging networking events and digital platforms to engage new donors.
