Consultant AI and Rule of Law Implementation of UNESCOs Ethics of AI. Mandate to promote peace, justice, and universal respect for the rule of law and human rights. To fulfill this mandate, UNESCO will develop a series of interactive tools, training programs, webinars, and publications to inform and educate judicial operators about the potential implications and applications of AI.
Consultant AI and Rule of Law Implementation of UNESCOs Ethics of AI
The role of this position, therefore, encompasses several key responsibilities:
- Knowledge Development and Management: To create, manage, and disseminate knowledge on AI and its implications on the rule of law. This includes creating and managing a knowledge repository, researching and writing reports, guidelines, policy briefs, and other publications, and organizing workshops and seminars.
- Training and Capacity Building: To design and implement training programs for judicial operators. This includes the creation of training modules, webinars, and e-learning courses to educate judicial operators about AI and its ethical, legal, and human rights implications.
- Consultation and Collaboration: To liaise with relevant stakeholders, such as governments, non-governmental organizations, universities, and other institutions, to collaborate on the development of guidelines and best practices on the use of AI in judicial processes. This also includes advocating for the adoption and implementation of the UNESCO Recommendation on the Ethics of AI.
- Project Management: To manage the EU-financed project on implementing UNESCO’s Recommendation on the Ethics of AI. This involves planning, executing, and monitoring project activities, managing resources, coordinating with partners, and ensuring that project objectives are met on time and within budget.
- Policy Advocacy: To advocate for policy changes in line with UNESCO’s Recommendation on the Ethics of AI. This includes lobbying for legal and regulatory changes at the national and international levels, and promoting the adoption of ethical guidelines and standards for AI in the judicial sector.
- Event Organization: To organize and host events like the annual Global Forum on AI, workshops, seminars, and conferences, where judicial operators, policymakers, researchers, and other stakeholders can share insights and best practices on AI and the Rule of Law.
The occupant of this position will play a crucial role in promoting the ethical use of AI in judicial processes and ensuring that AI systems used in the legal sector respect human rights, due process, and the rule of law.
