The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is seeking a Communications and Advocacy Analyst to support its work on disaster risk reduction and recovery (DRRR) and climate, peace, and security (CPS). The selected candidate will contribute to communication strategies, advocacy campaigns, and outreach initiatives, supporting global efforts to strengthen resilience and sustainable development. This position is home-based with a duty station in New York, United States, under the International Personnel Service Agreement (IPSA-9) for a one-year contract.

Tasks
- Develop and implement communication, outreach, and advocacy strategies on climate, peace, and security (CPS) and disaster risk reduction and recovery (DRRR).
- Provide communication support to UNDP’s Crisis Bureau Director and various country offices.
- Create compelling content, including videos, blog posts, web articles, infographics, and human stories.
- Manage and implement social media content strategies on Twitter and LinkedIn.
- Coordinate with teams to develop brochures, fact sheets, and campaign materials.
- Track and evaluate communication metrics to enhance outreach and engagement.
- Support the launch of advocacy initiatives and flagship reports.
- Manage risk-related communication strategies to avoid reputational risks.
- Ensure alignment of communications with UNDP’s Climate Hub and Crisis Bureau.

Qualifications
Education and Certification
- Master’s degree in International Relations, Media/Journalism, Publishing, Climate Change, Environment, Security, or related fields; OR
- Bachelor’s degree in the above fields with an additional two years of relevant experience.
Experience
- At least two (2) years (with a master’s degree) or four (4) years (with a bachelor’s degree) of experience in journalism, communications, or advocacy.
- Professional experience with UN agencies, government, NGOs, or international organizations.
- Expertise in developing multimedia content for digital platforms.
- Strong skills in presentations, networking, and advocacy.
- Experience in social media outreach and digital communications.
- Ability to work independently and within a team.
Desired Skills:
- Experience in journalism, video production, graphic design, and photography.
- Knowledge of regional media landscapes and communication strategies.
- Prior work experience with UN organizations.
- Experience in climate security, peacebuilding, and advocacy on environmental issues.
Additional Information
- Languages Required: Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of other official UN languages is an advantage.
