Domestic Internships at CARE
CARE’s domestic internships provide undergraduate and graduate students with hands-on experience in the field of international development. Interns are placed either at CARE USA Headquarters in Atlanta or at various US field offices. This program is ideal for students who are eager to gain practical experience and network within the organization.
General Eligibility Requirements:
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Enrolled in or recently graduated from a relevant undergraduate, graduate, or post-graduate program.
- Student visa holders must obtain appropriate work authorization from their educational institutions.
How to Apply: CARE USA hires interns for three distinct periods each year:
- Fall Semester: August and September
- Spring Semester: November and December
- Summer: April and May
Internship opportunities are posted on CARE’s Internship/Fellowship Career Site during these periods. Applicants who receive funding or academic credit should specify their coverage in their applications.
Overseas Internships with CARE
For those interested in international experience, CARE’s Overseas Internships offer placements in country offices around the world. This program is designed to help students gain practical work experience and develop leadership skills in global development and humanitarian assistance.
Placement Details:
- Internships are matched with academic backgrounds and areas of interest.
- Placements typically occur between June and August, though some positions are available throughout the year.
General Eligibility Requirements:
- Financial support from an academic institution or other agency.
- Legally authorized to work in the location of the internship.
- Obtaining appropriate visa and health insurance coverage, including emergency evacuation insurance.
- Enrolled in a graduate or post-graduate program or have graduated within the previous six months.
- Proficiency in the requisite language of the host country.
Ideal Qualifications:
- Enrolled in a relevant graduate program with at least 2 years of professional work experience.
- Strong time management, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and intercultural communication skills.
- Proficiency in a second language (French, Spanish, Portuguese) is highly desirable.
