Background and Purpose of the Assignment
The Country Strategic Plan 2024 – 2028 (CSP2.0) has been approved, outlining WFP’s commitment to supporting national development priorities in Ghana through various thematic pillars: Emergency Preparedness and response, Nutrition, Food Systems, Social Protection, and On-demand services and protection programmes. The Communication and Marketing Officer will play a pivotal role under the supervision of the Country Director, contributing to capacity strengthening for national institutions, advocacy efforts to improve food security, and nutrition outcomes, and fostering partnerships to maximize impact across different sectors.
Responsibilities of the Communication and Marketing Officer
The Communication and Marketing Officer will conduct a comprehensive analysis to identify synergies among prospective supply partners across diverse sectors. They will develop visually appealing and persuasive presentation materials to engage potential partners, support the development of animation videos for effective messaging, participate in negotiations with supply partners to establish agreements, and contribute to the development of a gamified loyalty platform. Additionally, the Officer will craft and disseminate communication materials tailored to resonate with various stakeholder groups, including donor-specific content for fundraising activities.
Deliverables
At the end of the contract, the Communication and Marketing Officer is expected to deliver pitch decks for demand/supply partner engagements, animation concepts and scripts, the gamified version of the loyalty platform, and the Digital Loyalty Platform.
Education and Experience Requirements
Candidates should possess an advanced degree or master’s degree in public relations, communications, marketing, or a related field. Alternatively, a first university degree with additional relevant work experience is acceptable. A minimum of five (5) years of experience in communication, marketing, or related fields is required, preferably with experience in development communications or international/donor-funded projects. Fluency (level C) in English is essential, with knowledge of additional languages considered advantageous.
Knowledge and Skills
The ideal candidate will demonstrate experience in fostering collaboration across different sectors, including public, private, and non-profit organizations. They should have a proven track record in successful marketing campaigns, particularly in behavior change or social impact contexts. Understanding of the African context is crucial, alongside strong communication, engagement, writing, reporting, and presentation skills. The candidate should be a team player with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse backgrounds, showing political and cultural sensitivity, diplomacy, and tact.
