Background and Purpose of the Assignment
Within the framework of the Country Strategic Plan 2024 – 2028 (CSP2.0), WFP endeavors to bolster national development priorities in Ghana across four thematic pillars: Emergency Preparedness and response, Nutrition, Food Systems, Social Protection, and On-demand services and protection programs. As part of its strategy, WFP aims to enhance its ‘enabler’ role by providing capacity strengthening for national institutions and advocating for improved food security and nutrition outcomes. The Proposal Writer will play a pivotal role in this endeavor, collaborating with stakeholders to develop concept notes, technical proposals, and advocacy materials aligned with the CSP thematic areas.
Responsibilities
The Proposal Writer will be responsible for providing technical advice, enhancing office capacity in climate adaptation and disaster risk financing, and integrating cross-cutting areas such as digitization, climate adaptation, inclusion, disability, and gender programming. Key responsibilities include:
- Providing technical advice and capacity strengthening in climate adaptation and disaster risk financing.
- Integrating cross-cutting thematic areas into proposals, including digitization, climate adaptation, inclusion, disability, and gender programming.
- Collaborating with thematic activity managers and the budget team to develop concept notes and technical proposals.
- Developing summary presentation materials to aid advocacy and outreach efforts.
- Ensuring alignment of proposed objectives with the CSP thematic areas based on stakeholder feedback.
Education and Experience
Candidates should hold an advanced university degree recognized by (WHED) in International Development or related fields, or a first university degree in the same disciplines with additional relevant work experience and/or training. A minimum of eight (8) years of post-graduate professional-level experience in humanitarian development or related activities is required, with demonstrated experience in developing concept notes and proposals for fundraising purposes. Experience working in a developing country and familiarity with International Financial Institutions, United Nations Agencies, or Government Entities are desirable.
Language Skills and Skills
Fluency in English (level C) is mandatory, accompanied by excellent writing and presentation skills. Candidates should possess good computer knowledge and skills, along with the ability to work under tight deadlines and handle additional tasks as requested by the supervisor.
Terms and Conditions
This is a When Actually Employed (WAE) contract, wherein the consultant will be engaged for sporadic, non-continuous assignments within a specified period and paid at the agreed daily fee.
