Background & Job Description
The Centre of Marine Sciences (CCMAR), based in southern Portugal, is inviting motivated early-career researchers to express their interest in developing independent, high-quality projects within marine sciences. Selected researchers will align their work with one or more of CCMAR’s research thematic lines, including:
- Global Environmental Changes: Addressing the impacts of climate change, pollution, and global drivers on marine ecosystems, while developing mitigation and adaptation strategies.
- Ocean Management and Conservation: Advancing sustainable fisheries, biodiversity protection, marine spatial planning, and providing policy advice.
- Marine Products and Resources: Exploring marine organisms and biotechnology for sustainable product development and innovative solutions.
This initiative supports researchers aiming to apply for competitive calls, such as the FCT CEEC Ind program (new call planned for late 2025), with CCMAR as the host institution.
Tasks
- Develop and design independent research projects in alignment with CCMAR’s thematic lines.
- Collaborate with international and multidisciplinary teams.
- Prepare and submit applications for competitive funding opportunities.
- Contribute to CCMAR’s knowledge base, innovation, and engagement in sustainable marine solutions.
Qualifications Early-career Researchers in Marine Sciences
Education and Certification
- A PhD in a relevant field of marine sciences or related areas.
Experience
- A strong record of peer-reviewed publications.
- Experience in grant writing, funding applications, or collaborative projects.
- Ability to work effectively in an international, multidisciplinary environment.
Additional Information
- This call does not constitute an employment contract. It is an opportunity to express interest and collaborate with CCMAR as a host institution for upcoming funding applications.
