UN Women is currently seeking candidates for the position of Call Centre Operator in the Zimbabwe Gender Observatory Call Centre team, which will be involved in monitoring gender issues during the 2023 Harmonised Elections.
Call Centre Operator, responsibilities will include:
- Addressing inquiries: Handling incoming calls, providing information, and assisting with gender and election-related queries, including available services and reporting options.
- Engaging with Election Observers: Taking calls from Gender Observatory election observers deployed nationwide.
- Providing support to survivors: Offering immediate psycho-social support to individuals who have experienced gender-based violence and reach out to the call center.
- Referral services: Providing information and making appropriate referrals to support services such as counseling, legal aid, medical assistance, shelters, and other available resources for survivors of violence.
- Follow-up communication: Conducting outbound calls to follow up with individuals who have contacted the call center.
- Documentation: Maintaining accurate and confidential records of each call, including caller information, conversation details, assistance provided, and necessary follow-up actions for record-keeping, trend analysis, and statistical reporting.
- Adhering to policies and guidelines: Following organizational policies, procedures, and call center guidelines, including privacy and data protection protocols.
Qualifications and skills:
Qualifications and Skills for a Call Centre Operator:
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or a related Social Science discipline.
- Additional advantage: Certificate in Systemic Counselling.
- Sound knowledge of gender issues and a comprehensive understanding of gender-based violence (GBV) matters.
- Minimum of three years of relevant experience.
- Effective communication skills.
- Proficiency in English and local languages such as Ndebele or Shona.
- Ability to work independently and handle pressure with minimal supervision.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including empathy, patience, professionalism, and the ability to work well in a team.
This position is for a contractual period of five (5) months.
