As a Communication and Advocacy Intern, you will play a vital role in supporting the organization’s communication and advocacy efforts.
Be an Advocate for Every Child: UNICEF Seeks Paid Communication and Advocacy Intern (3 Months)
Under the close supervision of the Media and Advocacy Officer, your key responsibilities will include:
- Content Creation: You will be responsible for collecting and helping to produce various communication materials, including testimonials, stories, photos, videos, and digital multimedia content. These materials will be used for external communication with a range of stakeholders, such as media outlets and donors.
- Storytelling for Impact: Crafting compelling stories that showcase the positive impact of UNICEF programs on the lives of children, youth, and their families is a core aspect of this role. You will be tasked with writing engaging articles for the organization’s website, highlighting the life-changing work being done.
- Event Support: Providing photography, videography, and social media coverage for missions, visits, and events organized by UNICEF Jordan is another key responsibility. Your skills in capturing these events will be crucial for effectively communicating UNICEF’s message.
- Branding and Communication Integration: Working collaboratively with the Design and Brand Officer, you will contribute to integrating brand building into the organization’s communication strategies. This might involve developing donor-friendly communication packages to share with public and private sector partners about UNICEF’s flagship programs.
- Knowledge Management: You will be involved in researching and developing knowledge management products and case studies that demonstrate the impact of UNICEF’s work. These materials are essential for external communication and resource mobilization efforts.
- Event Organization: Supporting the organization of key public events by collaborating with the Communication Team and external partners is another aspect of this dynamic internship.
The Ideal Candidate: A Passionate Advocate with Strong Skills
To excel in this internship, you will possess a strong foundation in the following areas:
- Academic Background: Current enrollment in an undergraduate, graduate, or Ph.D. program in communications, international relations, marketing, digital media, journalism, or a related field is preferred. Recent graduates (within the past two years) are also encouraged to apply.
- Communication Skills: Excellent writing, editing, and research skills are essential for crafting compelling content and communication materials.
- Project Management and Branding: A good understanding of communication project management principles and branding strategies will be beneficial.
- Language Skills: Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish) is a valuable asset.
