Tasks
As a Production Trainee at BASF, you will:
- Support day-to-day production and maintenance activities.
- Promote workplace safety under the OSH Act and BASF’s EHSQ Policy.
- Help maintain BASF’s Quality Management System.
- Manage raw materials and ensure quality control.
- Operate forklifts for moving materials and finished goods.
- Perform plant inspections and ensure safety compliance.
- Maintain cleanliness and readiness of work areas and equipment.
- Operate various production machines and meet productivity targets.
- Follow BASF procedures and contribute to continuous improvement.

Qualifications
Education and Certification
To qualify, applicants must have:
- A Grade 12 certificate with Mathematics and Science.
- Either:
- NQF Level 2 in Chemical Operations (theory completed, practical pending), or
- N6 in Chemical Engineering (with only practical training pending).
This programme is ideal for candidates needing final practical experience to complete their qualifications.
Experience
No prior work experience is required, but a strong interest in chemical production and a willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment are essential.
