Background & Job Description
The World Bank Group Young Professionals Program (WBG YPP) recruits highly qualified individuals from across the globe who have strong academic backgrounds, leadership potential, and relevant work experience. Fellows are placed in roles across WBG’s five institutions—IBRD, IDA, IFC, MIGA, and ICSID—covering sectors such as climate, digital transformation, infrastructure, economics, governance, and social development.
The program prepares future leaders through rotational assignments, intensive training, and mentorship, helping them drive solutions to global challenges.
Tasks
- Contribute to the World Bank Group’s mission in reducing poverty and promoting shared prosperity.
- Support technical projects across development sectors.
- Conduct research, policy analysis, and field-based project work.
- Collaborate with global teams on development initiatives.

Qualifications (Education and Certification, Experience)
Education
- Master’s degree (completed by September 1, 2026) in a relevant field.
- Candidates with doctoral studies may also qualify if nearly complete.
Experience
- 2–6 years of relevant professional work experience.
- Fluency in English; knowledge of French, Spanish, Arabic, Chinese, or Russian is an advantage.
- Open to nationals of WBG member countries only.
- Strong leadership potential and ability to work across technical areas.
- Applicants must not currently be WBG staff (except former interns or JPAs).
Additional Information
- The program begins September 1, 2026, with a 2-year renewable contract.
- Fellows are employed as mid-career staff (GF level) with competitive salary and benefits.
- Positions may be based in Washington, DC or global WBG offices.
- A G-type visa may be provided for fellows and dependents.
