Background & Job Description
Statistics South Africa (Stats SA) is inviting applications for its 2025–2027 Internship Programme, aimed at empowering unemployed South African graduates with hands-on experience. The internship spans 24 months, and successful applicants will receive a stipend of R94,326 per annum.
Stats SA is a leading government agency mandated to provide official statistics for the country and operates under the Statistics Act of 1999. It is known for its scientific and logistical capabilities in understanding complex socio-economic environments.
The internship is designed for candidates who have never participated in a Public Service internship before and who are eager to work at Stats SA’s Head Office.

Tasks
Interns will be assigned to different units depending on their qualification and field of study. Their responsibilities will include supporting research, statistical processing, data collection and analysis, administrative tasks, quality assurance, and communication activities.
Each intern will gain professional exposure aligned with their academic background in support of Stats SA’s national operations.

Qualifications
Education and Certification
Applicants must hold a completed National Diploma, Bachelor’s, Honour’s, or Master’s degree from an accredited South African institution in one of the following fields:
- Statistics / Mathematics / Applied Statistics / Demography
- Data Science / Analytics / Processing / Information Management
- Total Quality Management / Monitoring & Evaluation / Project Management / Economics
- Computer Science / ICT / Software Development / Information Systems / Networking
- Geography / GIS / Cartography / Environmental Science / Geomatics
- Economics / Econometrics / Finance / Business Economics / Accounting
- Graphic Design / Brand Visualization / Visual Communication / Multimedia Design
- Journalism / Media Studies / Public Relations / Communication
- Language Practice / Linguistics / BA (English + African Languages)
Experience
- No prior Public Service internship experience is allowed.
- A comprehensive CV and scanned copies of qualifications, ID, and (if applicable) driver’s license must be uploaded with the application.
- Only shortlisted candidates will be asked to submit certified documents.
Additional Information
