UN Women is seeking a Gender Research and Data Specialist to join its Centre in the Republic of Korea. This position supports gender equality, women’s empowerment, and the rights of women and girls by focusing on gender capacity-building, research, and advocacy. The role will involve leading research initiatives, analyzing gender data, and supporting the production of gender-related statistical reports. Tasks
- Design and implement research and data analysis plans in collaboration with UN Women’s headquarters and regional offices.
- Conduct research on gender equality and women’s rights, with a focus on Asia and the Pacific.
- Monitor emerging gender issues and contribute to UN Women’s analytical capacity.
- Commission and manage research projects on cross-cutting gender-related topics.
- Develop peer review and quality assurance mechanisms for research outputs.
- Produce analytical publications aligned with international statistical standards.
- Manage budgets and ensure synergies between research and statistical initiatives.
- Train stakeholders on gender statistics and provide technical support for capacity-building initiatives.
- Establish and strengthen partnerships with stakeholders, regional actors, and development agencies.
- Share research findings and best practices to enhance knowledge management within UN Women and partner organizations.

Qualifications
Education and Certification
- Master’s degree in statistics, economics, social sciences, gender studies, international development, or a related field.
- A first-level university degree with two additional years of experience may be accepted in place of a master’s degree.
- Project/programme management certification is an asset.
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in research, data analysis, and policy development, preferably in gender statistics.
- Experience working with gender-related data, social statistics, and official statistics.
- Proficiency in STATA, R, or Python for statistical analysis.
- Experience collaborating with government agencies, research institutions, or donors.
- Experience in the UN System and knowledge of the Asia-Pacific region is an advantage.
