The Communications Assistant will carry out the following duties:
- Assist in the development of information and outreach materials, and activities to support human rights campaigns, including fact sheets, newsletters, promotional materials, articles, blogs, tweets, brochures.
- Review translations; help sustain contacts with printers and other suppliers to ensure production.
- Prepare photo essays, infographics, video and media campaigns for broadcast and print media.
- Disseminate information, publications and statements; archive up-to-date documentation for publications, clippings, as well as photographic and audio-visual materials. Apply for Communications Assistant Position at UNDP
- Provide logistical support to outreach activities, initiatives and promotional opportunities, such as media workshops, conference, meetings, press briefings, report launches, information campaigns: engage with facilitators and hosts; arrange times with participants over availability; liaise with budget focal points over costs and needs and prepare background material for participants.
- Provide assistance during public events such as roundtable discussions, seminars, press conferences, briefing sessions, interviews, taking minutes and/or notes of the proceedings.
- Support the coverage of events by drafting and disseminating releases using different channels, if necessary.
- Research and retrieve information and data from internal and external sources.

- Support in the daily management of the Regional Office’s social media channels.
- In cooperation with the Programme staff, produce reports, web stories and blogs highlighting developments, achievements and successes to feed into the Regional Office’s website and digital media platforms; monitor the digital performance of these outlets; produce other communication assets as needed.
- Support with feeding media and visibility materials to key constituents.
- Contribute towards developing and sustaining collegial relations with government, donors, civil society organizations, UN Belgium communication counterparts, local media outlets as well as with groups and organizations whose support is essential to enhance cooperation and ensure coherence in public information activities and messages. - Contribute towards the drafting of the Regional Office’s strategic communication plan, including goals and outputs, to increase visibility, human rights storytelling and impact through communication.
- Provide support in the drafting of specific communication and media plans for the office.
- Identify and document best practices and lessons learned directly linked to the Regional Office’s communications goals and activities.
- Perform other related duties as assigned and deemed necessary for the efficient functioning of the Regional Office.

- Secondary education is required.
- A degree in Communications, Journalism, International Relations or related field is desirable, but is not a requirement.
- A minimum of four (4) years of relevant experience in strategic and digital communications, advocacy, public relations or administration.
- Experience in digital communications and in working with media is required.

- Experience of Adobe software solutions (Photoshop, Audition, Premiere, etc.) is an asset.
- Experience with the UN common system, the EU or other similar international organization is desirable.
Language:
- Fluency in both written and oral English and French is required.
