Position Overview: As a Programme Associate based in Damascus, Syria, you will play a critical role in supporting the Child Protection Section and the Office of the Representative. Your responsibilities will focus on providing technical, operational, and administrative support to various programs, including those addressing Prevention of Exploitation and Abuse (PEA), Gender-based Violence (GBV), and Explosive Ordnance Risk Education (EORE). Your work will contribute to the development, implementation, and monitoring of UNICEF’s country program, ensuring effective and timely delivery in line with UNICEF’s rules and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate the development of program cooperation, including assessing partner capacity on PEA.
- Support supervisors in maintaining relationships with partners, ensuring efficient resource allocation.
- Monitor the use of resources for EORE, PEA, and GBV programs, ensuring adherence to agreements.
- Conduct program monitoring in UNICEF focus districts, providing regular updates and preparing reports.
- Track the distribution of supplies for program delivery, ensuring efficiency and accountability.
- Research, compile, and analyze data on relevant program areas, assisting in report preparation.
- Support program implementation and capacity development activities, including training and logistics.
- Prepare periodic and ad-hoc program reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Manage program transactions in VISION, ensuring alignment with annual work plans and revisions.
- Assist in interagency network coordination for EORE, PEA, and GBV programs.
- Undertake any other tasks relevant to program areas as requested by supervisors.
Requirements: Education: Completion of secondary education is required, with additional technical or university courses related to the organization’s work preferred. Candidates with a bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant field may replace years of related work experience.
Work Experience: A minimum of six years of progressively responsible work in administrative or clerical roles is required. Experience supporting EORE, PEA, and/or GBV programs, particularly in emergency settings, is advantageous. Previous humanitarian experience or volunteering is desirable, as is experience working with the UN or other humanitarian organizations.
Language Proficiency: Fluency in English and Arabic is required.
Desired Skills: In-depth knowledge of UNICEF’s program/project operations, strong organizational and planning skills, high attention to detail, ability to work effectively with diverse teams, and proficiency in MS Office applications and UNICEF software are desired.
