The Junior Professional Associate (JPA) program is a highly competitive entry-level program designed for young, talented, and highly motivated individuals. JPAs are hired for a three-year term to provide analytical, research, and technical support to senior colleagues and project teams. This is a “fully funded” or paid program, meaning JPAs receive a salary and a comprehensive benefits package, including medical and life insurance.

Tasks

  • Analytical and Research Support: Use strong quantitative and qualitative skills to support the work of operational and corporate teams.
  • Project Assistance: Contribute to the design, implementation, and monitoring of World Bank projects.
  • Data Analysis: Collect, analyze, and interpret data to inform policy and project recommendations.
  • Report Drafting: Assist in the preparation of reports, briefings, and presentations.

Qualifications

Education and Certification

  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree with a superior academic record.
  • While a Bachelor’s is the minimum, some positions may be more suitable for candidates with a Master’s or even a PhD.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Knowledge of other official Bank languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish) is a plus.

Experience

  • No prior professional experience is required, making this an ideal program for recent graduates.
  • A demonstrated interest in international development, economics, finance, or a related field is essential.
  • Strong research and analytical capabilities.
  • You must be 28 years of age or younger on your first day of service.

Additional Information

The JPA program is a non-renewable, three-year Extended Term Consultant (ETC) contract. While it does not guarantee permanent employment at the World Bank, it serves as an excellent stepping stone for careers in international organizations, government, or the private sector.
