Role & Responsibilities
The Research Associate will focus on behavioral science applications within the UN Country Team at the national level. Responsibilities include:

- Map behavioral challenges in UN workflows, including meeting inefficiencies, reporting delays, and platform usage gaps.
- Identify existing nudges and interventions from international public sector examples (OECD, BIT, World Bank, UN Innovation Network).
- Analyze how local institutional culture and programmatic pressures affect decision-making and coordination.
- Propose low-cost, evidence-based interventions to improve outcomes such as attention management, digital tool usage, timely approvals, and budget execution.
- Develop a comparative, academic-style research paper (~7,000 words) with global insights contextualized for the UN.
- Provide recommendations to enhance internal efficiency and support implementation of UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework initiatives.
Qualifications & Skills Required
- Education: First-level university degree in Behavioral Science, Public Policy, Organizational Psychology, or related field. Enrollment in or recent completion of a Master’s or PhD is desirable.
- Experience: Minimum 2 years in research, data analysis, or visualization. Monitoring and evaluation experience is an asset.
- Skills: Strong analytical, research, and writing abilities; ability to produce structured academic papers; knowledge of behavioral economics, institutional governance, or international development.
- Languages: Fluency in English is required; French knowledge is a plus.
- Additional: Experience with UN or public administration systems is desirable.
