The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) is offering 13 Research Assistant roles to support its Climate Change and Natural Resource Sustainability Cluster.
The primary focus of these roles is to contribute to strengthening the regional knowledge base on the interlinkages between food systems and climate change, with particular emphasis on Arab Least Developed Countries (LDCs).
As part of ESCWA’s ongoing mission, these roles will play a critical part in efforts to advance food systems transformation, promote sustainability, and support Arab nations in achieving universal access to safe and nutritious food.

Tasks
Under the supervision of the Project Coordinator of the Food & Environment Policies Team and the Cluster Lead, the selected Research Assistants will be responsible for:
- Contributing to the preparation of a sub-regional report on the linkages between climate change and food systems.
- Supporting the organization and reporting of meetings related to food systems transformation, including preparing PowerPoint presentations, information notes, and translations.
- Providing research assistance and technical support for briefs, policy notes, and outputs related to sustainable food systems.
- Assisting in awareness-raising activities on climate change, natural resource sustainability, and food security.
Qualifications for Research Assistant Jobs Open at the UN
Education and Certification
- A first-level university degree in one of the following fields:
- Development studies
- Agriculture
- Climate change
- Environmental conservation
