ARUA Early-Career Research Fellowship Program 2025. The African Research Universities Alliance (ARUA) Early-Career Research Fellowship Program 2025 is now open for applications. With support from the Mastercard Foundation and the Carnegie Corporation of New York, the program will fund up to 42 researchers, offering a monthly stipend of US$2,000. The fellowship runs between July 2025 and June 2026.

Background & Fellowship Description
The African Research Universities Alliance (ARUA) is launching the Early-Career Research Fellowship Program 2025 to strengthen research capacity across African universities. The initiative will support early-career researchers by providing them with the resources, mentorship, and time away from teaching duties to engage in globally competitive research.
Fellows will be hosted at ARUA’s thirteen Centres of Excellence (CoEs) or the Africa-Europe Clusters of Research Excellence (CoREs), where they will collaborate with leading scholars across diverse disciplines.
Fellowship Details
- Duration: Six months (July 2025 – June 2026).
- Positions Available: Up to 42.
- Stipend: US$2,000 per month.
- Placement: A maximum of four fellows per CoE or CoRE, with all positions to be filled by December 2025.
- Diversity Focus: At least 70% of fellowships are reserved for women.
- Age Limit: Applicants must be 35 years or younger at the time of application.

- A PhD or equivalent research background is typically required.
