Background & Bursary Description
The Harmony Gold Bursary Scheme is designed to attract and support talented students from local communities surrounding Harmony Gold operations. The bursary covers students entering or already enrolled at accredited tertiary institutions, ensuring they can focus on their studies while preparing for careers in critical areas that contribute to gold production and the mining industry.
The bursary emphasizes skills development in finance, geology, human resources, mechanical and electrical engineering, metallurgy, and mining engineering, aligning academic training with industry needs.
Eligibility Criteria Harmony Gold Mining Company Bursaries 2026
- South African citizen with a valid ID.
- Age between 18 and 35 years.
- National Senior Certificate with 60% or higher in all subjects; for Engineering, minimum 70% in Maths & Physical Science.
- Tertiary students must have an average of 60%+ in all major subjects.
- Must be studying or planning to study full-time.
- Must submit a brief Curriculum Vitae (3 pages).
Fields of Study
- Finance: Managing financial transactions and operations.
- Geology: Optimal extraction of ore and underground problem-solving.
- Human Resources: Managing employees, compliance, training, and recruitment.
- Mechanical & Electrical Engineering: Safe operation, installation, and maintenance of machinery and structures.
- Metallurgy: Studying the physical and chemical properties of metals, particularly gold.
- Mining Engineering: Applying theory and technology to extract and process gold efficiently and safely.
